Abstract : Scanning Sky Monitor (SSM) on ASTROSAT is an X-ray sky monitor to detect and locate transient X-ray sources in the energy band 2.5 to 10 keV. It comprises three almost identical units of position sensitive proportional counters with a one-dimensional coded maskon each to do the imaging of the sky. All three units are mounted on a platform capable of rotation and SSM will scan the X-ray sky in step and stare mode. The information about the transients detected will be provided to other observatories to do a detailed study of the source. This paper discusses the calibration of SSM with the details of the experiments carried out and the results.
