Abstract : We investigate steady, accretion flows around black holes in general relativity. We use constants of motion like relativistic, generalized Bernoulli parameter, accretion rate and constant of integration like angular momentum on the horizon to obtain generalized accretion solution around black holes. We show that the accretion flow is transonic, sub-Keplerian, and apart from sonic points, do not respect other distance markers like marginally stable orbit or marginally bound orbit. There can be multiple sonic points for rotating flow. And the complete set of correct solutions in presence of dissipation can be obtained only if the constants of motions are taken into consideration. We discuss jet formation and other observational consequences from such discs. We also highlight the basic difference between between an accretion solution onto a neutron star and a stellar mass black hole in terms of the radiative output.
