Abstract : We study the structure of spherically symmetric and static neutron stars in perturbative f(R) gravity, where f(R) is a function of the Ricci curvature scalar R. We choose f(R) = R+αR(exp(−R/R0) −1). In general relativity, the mass-radius profiles are studied by solving the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations. We investigate how these relations are modified in perturbative f(R) gravity. Numerical simulations are currently being run to find the mass-radius relations using our tabulated EoS to investigate if stable neutron star configurations exist. If it gives rise to more compact stars than in GR and if they are observationally identified, such objects could constitute a definite signature for modified gravity at astrophysical level.
