Abstract : Studying the star formation in low gas density and/or low metallicity environments is important for understanding external galaxies and the evolution of the Universe. In low gas density and low metallicity regions, the relation between gas surface density and star-formation rate (SFR) is not well construed. Outer Milky Way is the ideal laboratory to study this, but it has been under-utilized due to lack of high sensitive observations. We are involved in a project to study a few solar metallicity and low-metallicity star-forming regions of the outer Galaxy in order to understand the role of environmental conditions on star formation. We present preliminary results on the star-formation rate, dust temperature, column density, star formation efficiency of the regions using multi-wavelength data sets from different telescopes (Herschel Space Telescope, Calar Alto 3.5m Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope, 2MASS, FCRAO).
