Abstract : | The dominant radio emission mechanism in radio-quiet (RQ) AGN is an open question. Primary contenders include low-power radio jets, AGN winds, star-formation and coronal emission. Our multi-frequency, multi-scale radio polarization study reveals a composite jet and 'wind' radio outflow in the RQ quasar, III Zw 2 as well as in Seyfert 1 galaxy, Mrk 231. Our radio polarization study using the EVLA in conjunction with the [O III] emission line data of five RQ quasars reveals an anti-correlation between the radio polarized emission and [O III] emission. This suggests that the radio emission is likely to be depolarized by the emission line gas. Overall, our findings suggest that a close interaction between the different outflow components and the surrounding environment is likely to be responsible for the stunted radio outflows in RQ AGN. |
