| Abstract : | We have visually classified a sample of 1109 L* galaxies, which are a class of galaxies similar in mass to the milky way and occupy the knee region in the Schechter Luminosity function, extracted from a parent sample of 36500 spectroscopically selected galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky survey (SDSS) Stripe82 survey. We choose a sub-sample of 51 L* ellipticals, of which 12 are from the blue cloud, 11 belong to the green valley and 28 are from the red sequence. We carry out a detailed study to investigate the quenching processes that might have played a dominant role in these galaxies. |
