Abstract : | The International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA) consortium is expected to detect nano-Hertz gravitational waves (GWs) from Supermassive Black Hole Binary (SMBHB) systems in the coming years by accurately timing an array of millisecond pulsars using the best radio telescopes of our times. It turns out that hyperbolic encounters of SMBHBs can produce GW bursts with memory (BWM) events that should be extractable from the matured IPTA data sets during the Square Kilometre Array era. We are developing an Enterprise compatible Python routine that provides ready-to-use PTA responses to GWs from SMBHB in general relativistic hyperbolic orbits in the 3.5 post-Newtonian descriptions. Further, we explain how we can adapt our approach to search for BWM events in the LIGO-Virgo-Kagra data sets. This is being pursued under the auspices of the Hyper-e effort of the collaboration to constrain rates of hyperbolic encounters of black holes in dense stellar systems. |
