Abstract : | The mid-infrared (IR) spectra of various astronomical sources are dominated by the unidentified infrared (UIR) emission bands and are commonly associated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These bands are ubiquitous throughout the interstellar medium (ISM) and show variations between the relative strengths, peak positions, and spectral profiles of PAH emission bands among different sources, or within a given source. The complete interpretation of the UIR bands requires infrared data mainly on pure PAHs, nitrogen-containing PAHs (PANHs), substituted PAHs and their clusters. Since there is only very limited data available regarding PAH/PANH clusters, we report the IR spectroscopy of PANH clusters here, for the first time. |
