Abstract : | Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are very energetic extragalactic transient astronomical events. The observations of FRBs using many radio telescopes around the world have revealed that some FRBs repeat, while others are apparently one-off. Even for those that repeat, most sources do not emit bursts at predictable intervals. It is still an open question as to what causes such bright emission. There are about 4000 FRBs detected to date, of which around 30 have been localised to their host galaxies. Of these localised sources, FRB121102 and FRB190520 stand out as FRBs which have been accompanied by persistent radio emission likely originating from the progenitor of the FRB itself. Multi-frequency and multi-band observations of FRB neighbourhoods can reveal interesting physics happening in the local environments and provide insight into the nature of the FRB progenitors. In this talk, I will present our 2023 epoch uGMRT follow-up observations of the persistent radio sources (PRS) associated with FRB121102 and FRB190520, compare the two PRSs' temporal and spectral evolution and discuss the implications on the progenitor models that we can obtain from these observations. |
