Abstract : | In a low-mass X-ray binary system, hosting a neutron star, matter is transferred
from a low-mass companion star to the compact object via Roche lobe over-
flow. They provide an excellent laboratory to probe the strong the gravity
and nature of ultra-dense compact object. Based on their correlated spectro-
temporal properties they are classified as Z and atoll sources. Some of the these
bright neutron star low-mass X-ray binaries were observed by AstroSat. I have
carried out a detailed spectral temporal studies of LMC X-2, GX 17+2, 4U 1705-
44 and GS 1826-238 using AstroSat data. I will summarize the results of them.
XTE J1701-462 is the only transient Z-source. The source underwent outburst
in Sep 2022. The AstroSat instruments have observed this source during the
outburst. During the AstroSat observation the source traced a complete Z-track.
The source also exhibited quasi-periodic oscillations. I will present the results
of spectral and timing analysis of this source, obtained using AstroSat data. |
