Abstract : | India is responsible for supply of 1535 soft actuators for Thirty Meter Telescope. Presently 20 P3 prototype actuators are being manufactured at two Indian vendors (Amado Tools and IDTR). Manufacturing precision components is a challenging task due to variety of materials being selected to meet the functional requirements of each part and operational requirements of the Actuator as an Assembly. Together with these critical requirements the tight drawing tolerances and special coatings add up to the challenges in manufacturing. This presentation summarizes some key aspects of manufacturing precision parts of actuators for the Thirty Meter Telescope |
