Abstract : We present optical photometric and spectroscopic analysis of the Type Ic supernova SN 2020akf that occurred in the galaxy KUG 0925+387B. The supernova was monitored during the period ~ 5 days before to ~ 108 days after the maximum in the B-band. It attained maximum brightness in the B band on JD 2458880.5 with an apparent magnitude of 16.33 +/- 0.03 mag. The peak absolute magnitude in the B band is estimated as - 17.39 +/- 0.2 mag. The derived peak bolometric luminosity is log L = 42.48 +/- 0.06 erg/s. Prominent lines in pre- and post-maximum spectra and velocity evolution of SN 2020akf are consistent with well-studied typical Type Ic supernovae.
