Abstract : | The e-magazine ‘DOOT’, led by students at IIA, is aimed at sharing research articles primarily across IIA and popularizing Astronomy & Astrophysics among the public. The idea of DOOT came about as a way to communicate and promote the work done by IIA researchers among themselves and to the general community in different fields and, in this way, to bring the IIA family closer. The first magazine of DOOT was released in August 2020. Since then, we have successfully released eight issues with over 120 articles, and we are preparing to switch to an online platform soon, allowing article submission and publishing throughout the year. The articles in DOOT take you into the incredible world of astronomy and how astronomers explore the universe and understand the science hidden in the depths of the beautiful 'starry night.' It brings forth contributions in the form of research-based review articles, creativity that includes art, poetry, and satire, interviews with renowned scientists (from India as well as abroad), simplified explanations of scientific principles, experiences shared by the IIA fraternity, memories of IIA, and career guidance from our illustrious alumni, stories from our field stations, and an amazing set of astrophotographs. The contributions comprise articles from every member associated with IIA. Although "Doot" (Sanskrit: दूत [dūta] ) in a literal sense means "a messenger" in various Indic languages. The magazine does not act as a mere messenger but caters to multiple things with an inclusive vision of bringing together different factions under one umbrella. Through this, we wish to reach a broader audience and further expand the horizons of our e-Magazine. |
