Abstract.
We worked on POSSII and ESO films and measured the diameters and
position angles of 6244 galaxies in 35 clusters using a 25-fold
magnification microscope.
The optical search limit has been estimated for these clusters. The
position
angle distributions of galaxies in the clusters have been studied. For
this, chi-square,
auto-correlation and the Fourier tests have been carried out. A
dependence has been
noticed between the optical search limit and the mean radial velocity of
the cluster.
The preferred position angle distribution of galaxies in the cluster has
been found to
be independent of the mean radial velocity of the cluster. Possible
explanations of the
result are discussed.
