We are writing with a request for you to sign up for this program so that we can build a resource sheet of astronomers who are willing to volunteer for the Astronomers in Residence initiative of the Public Outreach and Education Committee of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI-POEC). The Program intends to bring an astronomer in touch with schools, colleges, universities who rarely get a chance to interact with astronomers. This is intended as a capacity building exercise in Astronomy and Astrophysics in India.
A separate competitive call will be issued for school, colleges and Universities who are desirous of hosting Astronomers for short durations. Selected institutions will be paired with Astronomers and shall receive a modest grant to defray costs associated with hosting the Astronomers and expenses of any outreach / education events organized during their visits.
