Outreach Events Around the Country — September-November 2017

Aryabhatta Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital:

There was a one day Programme on Public Outreach Day as a precursor activity of the  the India International Science Festival-2017  at ARIES premises on  11 Sep, 2017. Approximately 75 Students of Govt. Inter College of Nainital participated in this programme.

ARIES participated by putting up a stall of exhibitions (posters/models etc) during IISF-2017 at Chennai during 13-16 Oct 2017.

Apart from these, ARIES regularly receives around 20-30 students and general public visiting their science center. They have a small planetarium and a 14-inch celestron telescopes for star-gazing etc.

Nehru Planetarium, New Delhi:

Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, there was talk by Prof. K. P. Singh (IISER Mohali and TIFR, Mumbai) titled : “X-Ray Astronomy and the ASTROSAT” on the 11th of November 2017. The planetarium has installed an ASTROSAT Corner consisting of the Prototype Soft X-Ray Telescope optics donated to us by the TIFR, a large model of the ASTROSAT and interactive video and text displays prepared by the planetarium, ISRO, TIFR, ASI POEC, and the ASTROSAT Training and Outreach Committee.

The ASTROSAT Corner was inaugurated by Prof. K. P. Singh on the 11th of November 2017.
