Abstract : X-ray optics is now a firmly established requirement to enable astronomical imaging as well as for high signal-to-noise studies. Though mirror efficiency is higher with grazing angle incidence, there are many advantages to the realization of a normal incidence x-ray mirror, specifically in the context of increasing the ratio of collection area to payload volume. This is viable only if normal incidence reflectivity is increased through the use of multilayer deposition. We present some initial plans and designs of multilayer normal incidence x-ray mirrors that can increase reflectivity. Results from testing of sample multilayers built at RRCAT, will be presented.
