Abstract Type : Plenary
Abstract : The SKA, the next-generation radio telescope, is currently in the detailed design phase with scientists and engineers from 11 partner nations, including India, participating in a global effort coordinated by the SKA HQ at Jodrell Bank Observatory in the UK. I will describe the science drivers for the SKA, which include: investigating the nature of gravity, probing dark energy and dark matter, understanding the formation and evolution of the very first stars and galaxies after the Big Bang, and much more. I will also provide an update on the project status and the timeline for construction and operations.
