Abstract : We present here the results from our program to map the metallicity of star forming regions, in the host galaxies of core collapse supernovae (CC-SNe). This work focuses on events in progenitors with extended H-envelopes, and 8 - 15 M$_{\odot}$ ZAMS masses. CC-SNe rates being tracers of the massive star formation history of the host galaxy, it is natural to connect the properties of the progenitors with that of the host galaxies. By tracing the metallicity of the host, and particularly, its value at the SN position we also set stringent observational constraints on the transient's environment, as well as on the nature and mechanism of the progenitor-environment interaction.
