Abstract : The on-disk UV/X-ray observations prior to CME eruptions have often shown S-shaped topology, which are known as 'Sigmoids'. These sheared and twisted coronal structures are considered to be the key elements of CME eruptions. Observationally they are considered as tracers for flux ropes. In this work, we carried out a statistical study of on-disk sigmoids observed between 2010 and 2018 using the X-ray Telescope (XRT) on board Hinode and the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) to understand the thermodynamic evolution of such structures by employing the techniques of differential emission measure and filter ratios. The results obtained from such study shall provide important ingredients for the thermodynamics modeling of CME source regions and their eruptions.
