Abstract : One of the important diagnostic for heating of the solar corona is the accurate measurement and variation of non-thermal width of the spectral lines in coronal loops with height. Such measurements, so far, have been obtained by subtracting the thermal broadening that is obtained under the assumption that the spectral line is formed at its peak formation temperature. However, the ionization equilibrium curves suggest us that the spectral lines could form within a range of temperature, thereby affecting the measured non-thermal width. In this work, first, we have measured the temperature at each location by employing the techniques of EM-Loci and have used these measured temperatures for the determination of the thermal widths. For this study, we have used the observations from Hinode EIS. We shall present some preliminary results.
