Abstract : In 2005, Vafa proposed that not every seemingly consistent effective field theory may be embedded into a consistent UV theory. The theories that cannot be UV completed are said to lie in the swampland. Since then several criteria have been proposed to find effective theories in the swampland. We consider Adams et. al. proposal for a criterion to find effective field theories which cannot be UV completed. Adams et. al. proposed that models which have superluminal propagations of fluctuations in a background are in the swampland. This condition of causality can be used to attain a positivity constraint on the leading interaction term. Separate constraints on the leading interaction term can be imposed by requiring analyticity and unitarity. We discuss causality constraints on effective field theories and the necessity of extending the work of Allen Adam et. al. to include gravitational interactions.
