Abstract : The bright persistent black hole system, Cyg X-1 has been observed several time by AstroSat providing unprecedented information about the temporal properties of the source and has become a test case to demonstrate AstroSat's capabilities. We will present results from several observations and in particular highlight the energy dependent fractional r.m.s and time lag as a function of Fourier frequency. These results can be quantitatively fitted by empirical as well as theoretical models, which reveal the dynamic behaviour of the inner accretion flow around the black hole.
