Abstract : The difference in the extinction curve of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) with respect to that of the the Milky Way (MW) and the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) has been a subject of interest and the source for various silicate--graphite--Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) based dust models over the years. In this work, we have studied the diffuse dust emission in the SMC using observations made in the far-ultraviolet (FUV: 1000--1750 Angstrom) and subsequently compared this diffuse emission with observations made in the infrared for the same locations, in an attempt to constrain the dust component responsible for the observed emissions. Since the weakness or absence of the 2175 Angstrom feature in the SMC extinction curve is associated with the absence of PAH molecules, we have tried to explain the selective absence of this feature in the SMC using our observed correlation trends.
