Abstract

Using a delay-differential equation model, we simulate the solar dynamo. We find that solar-like dynamo solutions exist in certain parameter regimes for which the dynamo number is less than or about equal to -3 (|ND| > 3 , ND < 0) and that sunspot cycle periods of 11 years can be reproduced with the parameter values set at a magnetic di usivity of η = 3.5 × 1012 cm2/s and a total time delay of approximately 2.8 yr.
