Abstract : A 50 cm off-axis Gregorian telescope named Multi-Application Solar Telescope (MAST) is operational at the island site of Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO), India since 2015. In order to compensate the image degradation due to the Earth’s atmospheric turbulence in real-time, an Adaptive Optics (AO) system has been developed at USO. The main components of the system are (a) a stand-alone image stabilization system that compensates the global tilt of the distorted wavefront using a piezo-driven tip-tilt mirror and (b) a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor along with a 37-channel deformable mirror for sensing and correction of local tilts of the distorted wavefront, respectively. In this presentation, the AO system and the observations obtained with it will be discussed.
