Abstract : Be stars and Herbig Ae/Be stars are the major two types of emission-line stars. NIR color-color diagram shows that some candidates belong to a region between these two types of stars. Not much study has been done on these transition candidate stars. We will be studying over 2000 Be and Herbig Ae/Be stars taken from literature to identify and characterize transition candidates using NIR color-color and optical color magnitude diagrams. Estimation of stellar parameters and follow-up analysis with emission-line stars in diverse metallicity environments (such as field, open clusters and Magellanic Clouds) will be done later. The study of these intermediate candidates will help to understand the “emission line phenomenon” in detail. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest study to identify and characterize transition candidates till date.
