Abstract : In this paper, we describe a spectrograph-based dual-channel solar imaging spectrometer for use with the one-meter class telescopes. The present design is optimized for 1.6 meter Goode Solar Telescope (GST) at Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO). The imaging spectrometer is based on a conventional spectrograph using a subtractive double pass (SDP) setup. The SDP instrument shall simultaneously observe the two chromospheric spectral lines of Hα at 656 nm and Ca II IR at 854 nm in a large field of view (FOV) of 130” x 130” with a spatial resolution of about 0.1”, a spectral resolution of about 10 pm over a 0.5 nm range, and a cadence of about 10 s. We have already conducted a proof-of-concept experiment at the Dunn Solar Telescope of the National Solar Observatory (NSO). We shall show the results from the proof of-concept experimental run.
