Abstract : Major complex mechanical assemblies of 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope were disintegrated for azimuth motor replacement and M1-M2 pad gluing missions. ARISS-octagon and primary mirror cell assembly were disintegrated from centre-piece of telescope while secondary mirror cell was disintegrated from its mounting with hexapod. All mechanical sub-assemblies were integrated back in telescope successfully and telescope was made ready for performing its alignment etc. by October 2019. Disintegration and integration of such intricate and very heavy mechanical assemblies back in to telescope with customized cranes was a major challenging task. Mechanical preventive maintenance activities, installation of new compressor in technical room, commissioning of scissor lift with working height around 16 m etc. have been carried out for maintaining good health of the telescope systems and dome. Indigenous design, in-house manufacturing and installation of telescope cover structure integrated with dome for protecting telescope during rainy season was successfully accomplished.
