Since these stars are within 100 – 150 pc it is impossible to identify moving groups from the clustering of stars. However, the stars belonging to a moving group are formed together and hence they share similar space motion. The important science driver for the study of moving group stars is due to the fact that the age of these stars fall in the range 5 – 50 Myr, which represent an interesting phase in the planet formation. Hence, the identification of young moving group stars with protoplanetary disc are attractive targets for exoplanet search programs. The presence of circumstellar disc can be identified by means of infrared excess and emission lines in the stellar spectrum. In this study, we compiled a sample of 2396 stars reported as members of nearby young moving groups. The moving group membership of these stars were evaluated in recent studies by the BANYAN team. From the analysis of infrared colors and spectral energy distribution, we identified stars with infrared excess, indicative of dust in the circumstellar environment. The age and mass of these candidates are estimated by overlaying MIST isochrones and evolutionary tracks on the Gaia DR2 color-magnitude diagram. The correlation between the estimated ages and the infrared excess is used to estimate the dissipation timescale of protoplanetary disc in these young stars, which has implications in understanding the formation of planetary systems. |
