Jaiswar, A.K. Singh and Lalit Dalakoti Abstract Type : Poster Abstract Category : Instrumentation and Techniques Abstract : The 104-cm Sampurnanand Telescope, located at Aryabhatta Research Institute of observational sciencES (ARIES), Manora Peak, Nainital, is one of the main observing facility in optical domain. This Telescope is operated by using push button switches and Right ascension (RA), Declination (Dec), hour angle (HA) and sidereal time is being measured and displayed by using selsyn (synchro transmitters and receivers) dials. Being more than 45 years old system requires upgradation as most of the components have become outdated. In today’s world there is high a demand for PC based control system because of its various advantages over manual system. PC based control systems are highly reliable, accurate and time saving systems. Computer based GUI operation of 104cm telescope has been developed successfully. For Display of HA, RA and DEC, two 39 bit absolute encoders with +-80 arc sec accuracy is used and in order to operate telescope from computer GUI, relay modules has been used. In house microcontroller boards have been developed to read encoders, to operate relay modules and to interface with computer based GUI. All these microcontroller boards are communicated over CAN bus. |
