Abstract : AstroSat, India's first multi-wavelength satellite, is designed to observe the universe in UV and broad X-ray band with its five onboard payloads. Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) onboard Astrosat observes the universe in FUV (130-180 nm), NUV (200-300 nm) and VIS (320-500 nm) with its best resolution of 1.5 arcsec (compared to 5 arcsec of GALEX) till date in FUV. The primary objective of this work is to study the variability of the UV sources and search for possible new detection in UVIT compared to the previous instruments like GALEX. Thus preparation of UVIT source list becomes the integral part of this objective. Here we brief the implementation of the methodology for UVIT bright source list. We also discuss the challenges and adopted techniques in the preparation of the same. Also the comparison of UVIT with GALEX will be presented.
