Abstract : The transient and variable astrophysical sources have drawn much attention of the astrophysics community in the recent past. With the successful operation of many multi-wavelength telescopes across the globe it has become possible to get spectral energy distributions of many of these sources even over short time intervals. Various radiative processes (synchrotron, inverse Compton scattering) lead to their multi-wavelength emission. However, their dynamic nature indicates more interesting physical phenomena which are yet to be explored. I will discuss about some of the transient and variable sources, their underlying physics (known and unknown) and the future prospects in this field.
