The ASI-POEC is organising a special session on "University Teaching of Astronomy : The Experimental Component'', to be held during ASI-2021. This session aims to bring together academic scientists, university teachers and educators to exchange and share their experiences and ideas for setting up appropriate experiments to complement theoretical teaching of Astronomy at the University (both UG & PG) level. This is expected to provide a platform for interested people to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted for setting up - a) laboratory experiments, b) data analysis worksheets for pedagogical purposes or c) real time observational experiences - in Indian Universities.
The session includes invited talks by Prof. B. C. Joshi (NCRA-TIFR, Pune) on pedagogical exercises in radio astronomy and Prof. T. R. Seshadri (Delhi University) on reflections on undergraduate astronomy laboratory course.
