Abstract : Stars are born deeply embedded in cocoons of gas and dust in dense molecular clouds. In the process of star formation, the surrounding interstellar medium is influenced in multiple ways due to feedback from the evolving young stellar objects. These effects include the impact of protostellar jets on the ambient medium, and expansion of HII regions around young massive stars, among others. I will present our current understanding of star formation and few of these feedback processes, drawing examples from observations and theory. Assimilating these feedback effects is pivotal to our understanding of star-formation and its evolution on large scales.
