Title: The social brain - insights from neuroscience of relevance to human social interactions
Bio of Speaker: Dr. Vidita Vaidya is an Indian neuroscientist and a professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. Dr. Vaidya obtained her doctoral degree in Neuroscience at Yale University and pursued her postdoctoral work at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the University of Oxford. Her primary areas of research are neuroscience and molecular psychiatry, with a focus on the neurocircuitry of emotions and the effects of life experiences, complex psychiatric disorders like depression, and antidepressants on them. Dr. Vaidya has been awarded the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2015) for her research. In 2019, Dr. Vaidya was awarded the Nature Award for Mentoring in Science.
