| Abstract: | This study investigates the Umov effect—an inverse correlation between reflectivity and the degree of linear polarization of scattered light—within the context of aggregate dust models. We analyze both polydisperse and monodisperse aggregates, employing the multisphere T-matrix (MSTM) code to simulate light scattering by various dust compositions, including carbonaceous materials, silicates, and Halley-like dust. The research highlights the impact of particle size distribution on the Umov effect and explores the optical properties of different aggregate types over a range of refractive indices. Our findings contribute to a deeper understanding of light scattering in cosmic dust environments. |
