Abstract : The interior of neutron stars can reach densities which is impossible to reach on earth-based laboratories. As a result, studying their equation of state becomes a valuable asset, as it can provide insights into intermediate densities that are yet to be explored. At such densities, there is a possibility of first-order phase transition, which can result in the formation of some exotic matter at the interior of neutron stars. In this work, we study the implications of such phase transition on the latent heat and the universal relations of neutron stars. We also extend our analysis to an interesting sub-category of stars called twin stars. Our results show some interesting features associated with each category of stars.
