Abstract : The reionization of the Universe was complete by redshift 6 however the nature of galaxies that reionized the Universe is hotly debated. The recent results from the JWST give an insight into the star formation in early galaxies. Keeping the results from the JWST in perspective, we investigate the nature of star formation in first galaxies with the cosmological hydrodynamical simulation EAGLE. At high redshift, we find a huge scatter in the trends of star formation rate with halo mass. The vigorous starbursts are an exception at low redshift but they are a norm at high redshift, and they occur in the brightest galaxies. We study the progress of reionization led by these galaxies using the cosmological radiative transfer code 21cmFAST. We simulate the evolution of neutral fraction, brightness temperature and the power spectrum of neutral hydrogen at 21 cm wavelength, and compare our results with observations from the experiments such as the MWA, the LOFAR and the upcoming SKA.
