Abstract : A multipurpose data logger called IDL (IIA Data Logger) is designed and developed at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore for astronomical applications. Different technical requirements considered for IDL include measuring Temperature (-25 to 80 C, with an accuracy of +/- 0.5 C), Humidity (0 to 100 % RH, with an accuracy of +/- 5% RH), Shock/acceleration (3 axis, +/- 8g per axis, with an accuracy of 10%). Other features include low power consumption for long operational life (3-6 months), compact size along with wireless Bluetooth Connectivity (15 m), IOT Connectivity, multichannel capability, DAQ capabilities, onboard storage (2 years) etc. The IDL is a generic data logger and has been implemented in six different applications so far. Initially, Proof of Concept (PoC) prototypes of IDL were developed and tested at IIA. Specific applications where IDL is implemented are 1) VBO Data Logger, 2) SCALES Cryo temperature data logger, 3) ITOFF data logger for facility profiling, 4) CN2 measurement data logger, 5) IDLPod - ITOFF equipment monitoring IOT pods, 6) Baking chamber data logger, 6) Transport Data logger, etc. In this paper, I will present the design, application requirements and results of these IDL applications.
