Abstract : | The Indian Network for Dynamical and Unified Solar Physicists (INDUS) is a dynamic and dedicated community of Indian solar physicists committed to unraveling the mysteries of our nearest star, the Sun. Our mission at INDUS is to nurture a vibrant community of Indian solar physicists, bridging boundaries within the nation and across the globe. We serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the exploration of pioneering solar physics research. INDUS endeavors to promote interdisciplinary dialogues that lead to a profound comprehension of the ever-changing solar phenomena. Currently, our group comprises early career researchers including young Indian PhDs, postdoctoral researchers, scientists, and students from diverse institutes and universities both in India and abroad.
INDUS was officially inaugurated on India's 76th Independence Day, on August 15, 2023. As an initiative striving to encourage collaboration, knowledge dissemination, and the advancement of Indian researchers in this field, INDUS has quickly gained significant interest and support, boasting more than 200 members. We've also seen remarkable global participation, with over eighty solar physicists attending our launch event from all corners of the world. Our membership boasts a diverse demographic, with approximately 65% comprising PhD researchers and 40% represented by female scientists. INDUS members are dispersed across 22 countries, with nearly half working beyond India's borders. At ASI 2024, we eagerly look forward to introducing INDUS to the broader astronomy and astrophysics community of India and get feedback towards the future development of INDUS.
