Abstract : | In this work, we will present a deep near-infrared (NIR) study of an embedded cluster BDS2003-52 using the TANSPEC instrument mounted on the 3.6-meter Devasthal Optical Telescopes (DOT). Present calibrated data can detect sources up to the faint limit (S/N>10) of J∼20 mag. Deep NIR data is used to study the structure, stellar population, dynamical state, etc., of this embedded cluster. We have found that the shape of this cluster is elongated and is small in size (r∼2 arcmin). From our observations, we have found that most of the stellar population in this cluster has low mass (<2 solar mass). This cluster is found to be located within a bubble of gas and dust. The cluster’s center coincides with the peak in the distribution of ionized gas, which indicates the possibility of a massive star impacting its nearby surrounding region. Present NIR data along with multiwavelength archival data from 2MASS/UKDSS, Spitzer/WISE, Herschel, PMO, NVSS, etc., are used to study the star formation history of this cluster. |
