Here, we have used the Ca-K plage area time series obtained from the digitized Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Ca II K data for the period between 1907 and 1985, which covers from cycle 14 (descending phase only) to cycle 21( maximum phase). Then, we divided the plage data series into three different sizes: 0.5 to 2 (small-size), >2 to 4 (medium-size), and > 4 to 11 arcmin^2 (large-size). We have determined the cycle-wise hemispheric asymmetry of different classes of plages as well as their periodic behavior. We explored the periodic behavior of asymmetry data using the wavelet technique, including Rieger-type and quasi-biennial oscillations on different time scales present in the time series. These results may help us better understand the nature and variation of magnetic structures in different layers of the solar atmosphere. |
