Applications are invited for the Bangalore summer school on GW astronomy, which will be held from 24 July to 4 August 2023 at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bangalore. This two-week summer school, jointly organized by ICTS-TIFR and Raman Research Institute, is part of our annual summer school series on GW astronomy. This year the school will feature four graduate-level mini-courses on different aspects of Numerical Relativity.
Courses:
- Numerical Relativity: Mathematical formulation (Thomas Baumgarte, Bowdoin College)
- Introduction to numerical relativistic hydrodynamics (Kenta Kiuchi, Albert Einstein Institute)
- Introduction to theory and numerics of partial differential equations (Harald Pfeiffer, Albert Einstein Institute)
- Modern numerical methods in Computational Relativity (Geoffrey Lovelace, California State University, Fullerton)
Eligibility criteria: The school is primarily meant for graduate students and postdocs working in GW physics, astrophysics, and related fields. A small number of highly motivated senior undergraduates can also be considered. A good background in General Relativity, numerical methods and coding is a prerequisite for the school. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.
