Abstract : | We discuss geodesics in newly proposed 5D warped generalised Ellis – Bronnikov (WGEB) spacetimes and compare them with the corresponding 4D model. There are broadly three types of geodesics (according to their behaviour at or near the ‘throat’) for both 4D and 5D models: Crossing, Returning, and Trapped geodesics. We used analytic approach, wherever possible, ‘dynamical systems analysis’ as well as numerical computation to analyse these geodesics. Interestingly, in presence decaying warp factor, trapped geodesics do not exist at all. As further distinguishing feature of the extra dimension, we have found that, in the presence of a growing warp factor, particle trajectories are confined and oscillatory around the location of the brane. The wormhole neck ‘elongates’ as one moves away from the ‘brane’. Whereas in the case of a decaying warp factor, we have runaway trajectories and decreasing wormhole neck length. |
