Abstract : There has been a long tradition of Radio Astronomy in India. Indeed, the first large Indian Radio Telescope, the Ooty Radio Telescope was in operation before the formation of the ASI. Over the years, a rich legacy has been built up both in instrumentation as well as in the research done using Indian facilities. In this talk I will describe the journey of Indian radio astronomy as well as briefly discuss plans for the future.
