Abstract : | Molecular clouds are found to be threaded by magnetic fields that are likely inherited from the galactic-scale interstellar medium out of which these clouds get condensed. These fields certainly play a vital role in structuring the cloud morphology and its evolution. However, the manner in which the fields influence the main quantitative outcomes of the star formation process is still unclear. The goal of this talk is to summarize the current observational efforts made in getting an understanding of the importance of magnetic fields in star formation. |
