Abstract : | A long-term infrared and X-ray investigation of the colliding-wind binary WR 125 (WC7+O9III) is performed using AstroSat-Soft X-ray Telescope and TIRCAM2 mounted at the back of 3.6-m Devasthal Optical Telescope. The source appeared brighter in the near and mid infrared wavelengths during the years 2017–2021. The infrared excess is attributed to another episode of dust formation after similar instance reported at the beginning of the 1990s during its periastron passage. Long-term modulations have also been observed in the X-ray flux measurements. Both infrared and X-ray emission variations suggest an orbital period ~28-29 years. Multiwavelength observations of WR 125 allowed to draw relevant guidelines for future exploration of this massive binary. |
