Abstract : The Solar Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) onboard Aditya-L1 space mission is an off-axis RC telescope with a 4K × 4K CCD as the detector sensor. The SUIT aims at observing the sun in Near UV (200-400 nm) using 11 different narrow and broad band filters, with a best possible time cadence of 16 seconds for full disc images (FOV: 48 X 48 〖arcmin〗^2) and 3 seconds for the region of interest images (FOV: 500 X 500 〖arcsec〗^2). The CCD architecture has four simultaneous read-out channels. The detector sensor is optimized to have improved quantum efficiency in the NUV region. The CCD readout electronics is designed and developed in-house to meet the desired specifications for the targeted science goals of the SUIT. The testing and characterization of the CCD and the detector read-out electronics to understand their performance parameters is completed. In this talk, test setup used and procedures followed to characterize the CCD will be discussed and the results will be presented.
