Abstract : | We present first photometric analysis of HD 24017, a short period eclipsing contact binary. A total of 20 years data had been collected from both ground and Space based telescopes like ASAS, ASAS – SN, GETTEL and TESS and was analyzed using PHOEBE. Based on 28 ToM’s collected, the orbital period was found to show a secular period decrease with a rate of dp/dt = -2.53 × 10^(-6) days/year. This can be inferred due to mass transfer from the more massive component to the less massive one. The results obtained indicates that HD 24017 is an A-type over-contact binary system with a low mass ratio ∼ 0.18 and a fill out factor of ∼ 23%. The evolutionary status of the variable in study is correlated with well-studied low mass contact binary systems and the same is discussed and presented.
